Welcome to our frequently asked questions page. We hope to answer any questions pertaining to our products. If you should have a question that is not answered here, please feel free to contact us.

Q: What does OEM mean? What is an OEM cartridge?

A: OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEM's, such as Lexmark or HP, are the companies that manufacture printers and other equipment. OEM cartridges are cartridges that are branded with the OEM's brand. All of our products meet or exceed OEM standards.

Q: What is a remanufactured cartridge?

A: Recycled cartridges that are disassembled, and have the worn parts replaced, are called remanufactured cartridges. To quarantee print quality, remanufactured cartridges from G&S are rebuilt according to ISO 9001 standards and thoroughly tested.

Q: What is a compatible cartridge?

A: A compatible cartridge is manufactured by a third party company, and fully compatible with OEM standards.

Q: What is a compatible laser toner cartridge?

A: Each model of a compatible laser toner cartridge is completely manufactured or remanufactured by a third party company. Our cartridges will produce the same or higher print quality that the comparable OEM cartridge.

Q: What about quality? Are remanufactured or compatible cartridges as good as the OEM cartridge?

A: Our remanufactured and compatible toner cartridges contain the highest quality components and produce outstanding print quality. Our remanufacturing tachnology is so precise that our process exceeds the OEM standards in most cases.

Q: Will using a remanufactured or compatible cartridge void my printer warranty?

A: The short answer is "no". The federal trade commission prohibits any manufacturer from requiring a consumer to purchase supplies exclusively from the manufacturer. In addition, the Sherman and Clayton Antitrust Act states that manufacturers are not allowed to limit a warranty, requiring the consumer to use only the manufacturers supplies. Many manufactureers will limit their warranty based on "damage" to the printer caused from a non-OEM cartridge. This is the OEM's way of trying to make you believe that other products are inferior, and that their products are worth substantially more money. G&S is so confident in our cartridge quality that we provide a warranty to repair or replace any printer that is damged solely from our cartridges.

Q: Will my remanufactured or compatible cartridge last as long as an OEM cartridge?

G&S remanufactured or compatible cartridges should last an average of 15% to 20% longer. In many cases, the OEM will not fill their cartridges to full capacity; instead they fill their cartridges based on "weight" rather than volume. We simply fill the toner cartridge to capacity. In addition to saving money on the purchase of a remanufactured or compatible cartridge, you should save even more because it should print or copy 15% to 20% more pages before needing to be replaced.

Q: Will a G&S manufactured or compatible toner cartridge really save me money?

A: In most cases you should realize a significant savings. For example, let's take a look at a populer toner cartridge: the HP LaserJet 4250/4350 toner cartridge. The standard yield OEM cartridge retails for 166.99 and the high yield OEM cartridge retails for 248.99 on HP's website. Office Depot lists their standard yield remanufactured cartridge for 132.99, and their high yield cartridge for 198.99 on the Office Depot website. G&S everyday selling price for the high yield 4250/4350 compatible cartridge is 130.00. Our price could SAVE YOU BETWEEN 2.99 AND 118.99 PER CARTRIDGE, depending on the type of cartridge you use and where you currently buy your cartridges. Example prices obtained on 10-12-09 from the HP and Office Depot websites.

Q: Can a remanufactured or compatible toner cartridge damage my printer?

A: A toner cartridge that has properly remanufactured won't cause damage to your lase printer. G&S uses only remanufacutrers that adhere the the highest quality standards. In addition, we back up our cartridges with an on-site service warranty to reflect our confidence in our products.

Q: Will I get the same number of printed pages and nice dark print from your remanufactured or compatible toner cartridges?

A: Absolutely. We guarantee that you will get excellent quality and page count equal to or higher than that of an OEM cartridge.

Q: How big of an impact can recycling toner cartridges have on the environment?

A: The current level of toner cartridge remanufacturing helps keep an astimated 40,000+ tons of plastic and metal from filling our landfills each year.

Q: Why don't more businesses use remanufactured or compatible toner cartridges?

A: Primarily this is due to a lack of education about the product. there is also some misinformation about how using non-OEM toner can void your printer warranty. The toner cartridge remanufacturing industry is only about 25 years old. The industry itself is working to educate consumers about the value of using recycled cartridges, and today more than a third of all American businesses use them. G&S has specialized in printer service for several years, and has direct, hands-on experience with both OEM and remanufactured toner cartridges.
